Carbon Offset Projects

Greening Malaysia

About the project

Welcome to the Greening Malaysia Programme through the wonderful National 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign!

This 5-year journey runs from 2021 to 2025 and is lovingly championed by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (formerly known as Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources).

A mission to help everyone discover the magic of the forest areas and join hands in the shared commitment to keep Malaysia’s beautiful forests thriving for generations to come!

The exciting 5-year tree-planting celebration with a goal of 100 million trees, though the green journey began before and will continue long after the campaign ends

A friendly reminder that this is a heartwarming donation project rather than a carbon credit initiative. Your generous support goes directly to planting trees and spreading green joy!

The good stuff

The story

Say hello to Yayasan Hijau Malaysia (YHM)! Born in 2014 under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, this wonderful foundation is all about making green living fun and sustainable for everyone.

Their heartfelt mission?

To spark excitement and invite everyone—especially the amazing young people—to join in on green technology adventures, explore renewable energy, celebrate biodiversity, and embrace joyful sustainable lifestyle practices!

Tree planting has been one of YHM’s beloved green initiatives even before the exciting launch of the Greening Malaysia: National 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign (2021–2025), and they’ll continue nurturing this passion well beyond the campaign period. The best part? Every tree you help plant during 2021– 2025 gets a special spot in the official Greening Malaysia Campaign records, with each leafy contribution counted in the wonderful national tree tally.

Here’s something to celebrate! Malaysia has joyfully achieved its goal of planting 100 million trees way ahead of the 2025 schedule. On December 10, 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had the honor of planting the milestone 100 millionth tree—a beautiful Merbau (Intsia palembanica), Malaysia’s beloved national tree—at the charming Taman Herba, Parliament Complex. The heartwarming theme of this campaign is “Greening Malaysia: Our Trees, Our Life.”

Making a difference together

The Greening Malaysia campaign is great because it helps everyone understand just how important green spaces and forests are for happiness and well-being. It’s all about creating a healthier ecosystem and protecting the amazing biodiversity. It may also spark a real love for nature in people of all ages through fun tree-planting activities, while supporting commitment to keeping Malaysia beautifully green and forested.

The Malaysia Greening Program, with its ambitious 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign, was announced with enthusiasm by Malaysian Prime Minister during the 77th National Land Council Meeting on September 8, 2020. This wonderful initiative was kicked off with nationwide celebrations on January 5, 2021!

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (formerly Energy and Natural Resources) are reaching out with open arms to bring everyone together in this green mission. They’re building partnerships with State Governments, various ministries, private companies, NGOs, schools, and everyday Malaysians because when all pitch in together, it can make this beautiful green dream come true!
